How do I carry out the basic configuration of a public cloud system for the document migration?
Overview
This section will show you how to carry out the basic configuration of a public cloud system in order to migrate documents.
Prerequisites
A cloud tenant with d.velop documents has been purchased and you have access to the cloud tenant.
All users of the on-premises source system who edit or own the documents to be migrated have a unique e-mail address.
A master data export from the customer’s live on-premises source system has been carried out.
Necessary components
Component | Version |
|---|---|
Cloud migration toolkit | None |
This is how it works
Purchase the d.velop cloud migration toolkit for the cloud tenant in the d.velop store: https://store.d-velop.com/de/d.velop-cloud-migration-toolkit/90000003. Then carry out the following steps.
Carrying over the repository configuration
Perform a master data export to transfer the document types, properties and datasets from the source system and import them into the cloud migration toolkit. Further information on this largely automated process can be found at the following link: https://kb.d-velop.de/s/article/000002003
If you want to reconstruct the dossier scheme during the migration, transfer the dossier scheme configuration automatically or manually if necessary.
Define simple permissions for the categories in order to view migrated documents. You can create the future permissions structure in parallel with the migration.
Making users available in the cloud system
Make on-premises users available in the cloud migration toolkit:
If all users are included in the master data export (d.3 backup), save the users for mapping by clicking Apply under User migration.
If not all users are included in the master data export, for example, because an Active Directory (AD) is connected in the source system, you can use a database query in the source system to create a list of all users in the system. The list is saved in a CSV file and can be provided in the cloud migration toolkit. You can view the database query and the CSV file format in the help guide of the cloud migration toolkit under How do I export the users to a CSV file?
Make the existing on-premises users available in the cloud system:
If AD is required, perform the AD connection to make the users available in the cloud system.
If AD is not required, use the cloud migration toolkit to automatically transfer the users specified there to the User Management App. Under User mappings, you can also have all unmapped users created automatically in the system.
Additional links and information
If you want to transfer the repository configuration from a public cloud test system to a live public cloud system, you can use the package export in the Configuration feature under Document and dossier structures.
