Adding a MediaWiki Connection
This section describes how to set up your MediaWiki connections.
To configure the MediaWiki search provider, you need the end point of your MediaWiki server. If the API is available under /w/api.php, it is sufficient to specify the domain. For public platforms, these are the following domains:
MediaWiki: https://m.mediawiki.org
Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Wikibooks: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Main_Page
Alternatively, you can also specify the URL for the corresponding API directly:
Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/api.php
For a local installation, proceed as shown in the examples.
This is how it works
Click Configuration on the start page.
Under Enterprise search, choose the entry Search provider.
Click the cog icon in the group MediaWiki and choose the entry MediaWiki connection.
Click the plus sign to add a new MediaWiki provider.
In the Title field, add the name of the search provider.
In the API endpoint field, specify the URL described above with which your MediaWiki server can be accessed.
Specify a URL for an icon to define the appearance.
Click Save to add the configuration.
You have successfully added the MediaWiki search provider. Enable the search provider in search provider management so that your users can use the search provider.
