End of support for Inbox app (on-premises) with the release of Current Q1.2026 (Annual 2026)

General, Releases & Updates·November 14, 2025

With the release of Current Q1.2026 (Annual 2026), support for the Inbox app (on-premises) will end. As part of this, the Inbox app will be removed from d.velop software manager. The Task app is available as a modern and fully supported web front end for processing tasks. Server-side creation of d.3 mailbox messages will remain unchanged; using an option in the server, these messages can be generated as tasks for the Task app in the future.

The Inbox app is a web component in the d.velop documents web client (feature "Tasks and Messages") that allowed server-side generated d.3 mailbox messages to be displayed and edited in the browser. The Inbox app was created as a counterpart to the mailbox in d.3 smart explorer and only mapped the basic functions of a client for task management. Advanced options such as filtering or grouping, group mailboxes, or a web interface for creating new mailbox messages were not included. The app was only available for on-premises installations.

Important: This does not refer to the d.3 mailbox itself or its server functionality for creating mailbox messages; this functionality is still available. The d.3 mailbox, together with d.3 smart explorer, will no longer be supported as of Annual 2025.

The end of support affects on-premises installations of d.velop documents that use d.3 mailbox and Inbox app. Cloud environments and installations that do not use d.3 mailbox are not affected.

This decision has three objectives:

  • Increase security by removing obsolete components.
  • Ensure a consistent user experience when processing tasks without parallel concepts.
  • Reducing maintenance effort to focus our development resources on the further development of the Task app and the web client.

Starting in Q1 2026 (Annual 2026), d.velop software manager will explicitly ask whether the Inbox app should be retained or removed during updates or installations. Please note: Use after the end of support is technically possible but will be without support and at your own risk.

If you have not already done so, we recommend that you plan to switch to the Task app in the near future, activate the required server switch for task creation with the Task app, carry out technical tests in your processes, and inform users accordingly.

Information on migrating your mailbox can be found in this KB article: How do I migrate my mailbox to d.ecs task with the parameter “ENABLE_TASKAPP”?

Detailed information on migration and the next steps is available in the d.velop service portal.
