Dashboard Administration V2.0

Dashboard, Releases & Updates·June 27, 2025

The new administration of the dashboard app provides members of the administration with new features for managing dashboard layouts at the level of IDP groups and users.

  1. You can transfer layouts of existing dashboards to other dashboards.
  2. You can define dashboards for groups and users.
  3. You can export and import dashboard layouts.

Transferring the layout of an existing dashboard to another dashboard

If you have created a new dashboard and opened it in the editor, you will initially see an empty group. You can now start to add various widgets from the catalog and create additional groups if necessary.

If you want to create a new dashboard based on an existing layout, you can use Copy layout to copy the layout of the corresponding dashboard and then adapt and save it.

Defining dashboards for groups and users

A new dashboard is initially displayed in the Other dashboards area, as it has not yet been assigned to any users. You can use Assign consumers to open a dialog in which all users or groups to whom the dashboard is to be made available are listed on the left-hand side under Available consumers and on the right-hand side. There is a search field above the two lists that you can use to search both lists. Once all users or groups have been selected and assigned, you can close the dialog by clicking Apply.

The dashboard is now shown in the Assigned dashboards list. The order of the dashboards in the table determines which dashboard is provided to which user or group. If a user or group is assigned to several dashboards, the dashboard that is listed first in the table is provided. The table is processed from top to bottom. You can change the order of the dashboards in the table using drag & drop.

If no explicit dashboard is assigned to a user, the user is provided with the lowest dashboard marked Default. Existing customers have to define the default dashboard once, for new customers the d.velop default dashboard is already set as default. You can then customize the layout of the standard dashboard as usual in the editor.

For each dashboard, you can specify separately whether customizations are allowed for users or not. If customizations are not allowed, all changes to the layout are passed on directly to the users to whom the dashboard is assigned. If customizations are allowed, a copy is created for the user the first time the start page is called up. The user customizations are made on the copy. If it is necessary from an administration point of view to implement changes to a dashboard, even if customizations are allowed and the users are provided with their copy, overwrite dashboards can be used to force the reset of all user dashboard copies.

Exporting and importing dashboard layouts

Dashboard layouts can be downloaded using Export in the 3-dot menu. You can use this file to transfer dashboard layouts from one client to another. This is helpful if you manage different clients or simply use several stages. You can load the exported dashboard layout in the dashboard administration using Import. Once the dashboard has been loaded, it is first displayed under Other dashboards, as you must first assign the dashboard to at least one user or group.

Please note the following when exporting:

  • No self-configured widgets can be exported.
  • The settings that may have been made for widgets are also not exported.

d.velop will make the new dashboard administration available soon.
