The next update to d.velop process studio will feature a fresh new design.
A video description summarizing all the important changes can be found here:
The familiar functions will still be available. Below is a brief overview.
The new d.velop process studio follows the principles of the so-called canonical layout. A core element of this layout is the navigation rail on the left-hand side.
This always gives you a dedicated starting point for the respective role you are currently assuming in d.velop process studio.
If, for example, you want to automate a process, start under Modeling, where you will find your familiar overviews of the studio components and can proceed from there to process modeling or form creation.
As before, you can quickly switch between the different component lists using the navigation list.
Within the individual component lists, you have access to familiar functions such as filtering the list or calling up process monitoring for a process. In addition, minor improvements have been added, such as the ability to sort the list by name or modification date, or to download a process directly from the list.
We have grouped the functions for creating and uploading a component behind the + New button. After selecting the button, you will be presented with a selection where you can choose whether you want to create a new component or upload an existing one from the file system.
When you select a component from the component lists, the corresponding editor opens in the main view and you can model processes, create forms, and use the other tools in d.velop process studio as before.
If you do not want to get involved in modeling, but would rather look at the processes from an operational perspective, select the Operations area in the navigation rail.
Here you will find the familiar functions of the overview of planned process starts and also the jump to process monitoring.
Help takes you to the help page for d.velop process studio in the d.velop portal. Here you can access various examples and templates if you have any questions.
The Settings menu item in the lower left corner contains a link to process administration, as is already available in the current Studio.
Permissions for using d.velop process studio
The new d.velop process studio bundles the previous access authorization pages for the individual components and introduces new studio access authorizations.
This means that you no longer have to dive into different configuration pages to configure the permissions that employees have for the individual functions of the studio.
Studio access permissions
When configuring d.velop process studio, you must specify who is allowed to work with d.velop process studio.
You can manage access permissions via the Configuration tile in the Tasks and Processes → Process Studio → Access Permissions area.
In the access permissions management section, you can select employees (individuals or groups) and authorize them to work with d.velop process studio.
Once a person has been added to the list, they can access d.velop process studio. If a group is added to the list, this applies to all user accounts within that group.
In addition, permissions can be assigned for each area of expertise within d.velop process studio. For example, if a check mark is added to Forms, this person can create, edit, and delete forms for which they are additionally authorized.
Hovering the mouse over the question mark shows which permissions are hidden behind the respective checkbox.
Selected employees can be removed from the list using the three-point menu.
Administration permissions for d.velop process studio
Previously, it was possible to assign separate administration permissions for each area of expertise in d.velop process studio. We have now combined these into one administration permission for the entire d.velop process studio.
Using the Add to administration and Remove from administration entries, a selected person or group can be granted or revoked administration rights for d.velop process studio. If a person or group is assigned to the administration, the check marks for all sub-areas of d.velop process studio are automatically set and (Administration) is displayed after the name.
Permission migration when deploying the new studio
As soon as the new d.velop process studio is accessed for the first time, the existing permissions are transferred to the new permissions (described above) in the background. This means that every person who previously had editing or administration permissions in one of the specialist areas of d.velop process studio is automatically added to the list of employees.
In addition, permissions for individual disciplines are set analogously to existing permissions. For example, if a person was previously allowed to create forms, they will continue to be allowed to do so.
If a person previously had administrative permissions in one of the disciplines, they will be assigned overall administrative permissions for d.velop process studio as part of the permissions migration.
Since the administration permissions for the individual subject areas have been merged into a studio administration permission, it is possible that individual persons may have extended permissions after the migration. Please check the settings accordingly.
How do I access the new d.velop process studio?
After the new d.velop process studio has been made available, the following redirect page will be displayed when accessing the previous studio (via the tile or directly via URL).
You can switch to the new d.velop process studio via this page. To avoid having to go through this process every time, the new d.velop process studio also provides a new widget that takes you directly to the new d.velop process studio.
